The champions league for this week is over so as expected, it was time for the Europa League. As usual, there were a handful of Europa league matches that were played. Arsenal got a comfortable and expected 3-0 home win at home against Dundalk. The match was pretty much over in the first half and as such, there is nothing much to say about this match. Arsenal had completely dominated the game and fully deserved the win. Eddie Nketiah scored the first goal for Arsenal on the 42nd minute. Joe Willock made it 2 nil for Arsenal just before halftime. Arsenal continued their dominance in the second half and where they stopped in the first half… Nicolas Pepe completed the goals for Arsenal to make it 3-0 on the 46th minute. Overall, it was a good win for Arsenal.
AEK Athens vs Leicester City was also another Europa league fixture that was played. This was an interesting fixture as it was a difficult match for both teams. However, Leicester once again showed why they are one of the new forces in the premier league and so far, they have won all the group stage games so far, 6 points on their books. Jamie Vardy scored the first goal for Leicester on the 18th minute. Hamza Choudhury doubled the lead for Leicester City on the 39th minute. It ended that way in the first half. The second half began and things began to look even more interesting. Muamer Tankovic pulled a goal back for AEK Athens very early in the second half and from there, it was game on, but Leicester were solid and were able to hold on to their lead to ensure that they get the crucial win.
Antwerp vs Tottenham was a weird one as on paper, one would think Tottenham were going to cruise to a comfortable win and once again this shows that nothing is set in football. Antwerp got the surprising home win against Tottenham. If you look at the group table, you would see that Antwerp is currently the better team in the group, winning their 2 matches and in this game, they were arguably the better team against Tottenham. Lior Refaelov scored the only goal for Antwerp on the 29th minute. A great win for Antwerp.
Real Sociedad vs Napoli was another interesting fixture as well. Real Sociedad were the better team stats wise, but Napoli did what they needed to do get the 3 points. Matteo Politano scored the only goal for Napoli on the 55th minute. A very good away win for Napoli.
Milan vs Sparta Prague was also one of the fixtures. Nothing much to say here… Brahim Diaz scored the first goal for Milan on the 24th minute. Rafael Leao made it 2-0 for Milan on the 57th minute, Diogo Dalot made it 3-0 for Milan on the 66th minute. Very good home win for Milan, making it 2 wins out of 2 and are top of the group table.
