Back again with another champions league recap post. Yesterday’s champions league games was exciting but today’s own was even more exciting. As usual, there were a couple of matches that were played today. I will be starting with the Juventus 2-0 loss to Barcelona at home. This was the biggest match of this champions league matchday and as such, a lot of attention was on the match. Both Juventus and Barcelona haven’t been that great in this season, it was a close tie to predict. However, it was a lot different when the game began than a lot expected. Juventus didn’t record a shot on target at home, with Barcelona dominating most of the stats. Barcelona took the lead early in the game. Ousmane Dembele scored the first goal for Bacelona on the 14th minute to put them on the right track for the curical away win. Lionel Messi completed the goals with the second goal for Barcelona right at the ending parts of the game on the 90+1 minute. A good win and a crucial 3 points for Barcelona as they climb first on their group table.

Krasnodar vs Chelsea was another champions league fixture that took place today. However, due to the time difference, the kick off time was earlier compared to the usual kick off time. This was one of those games that on paper you would think it will be a complete walk over for Chelsea as Krasnodar with all due respect isn’t really a popular team and not that many know about them, even though they are playing in the champions league. We expected a much easier match for Chelsea but it wasn’t the case as Krasnodar really gave Chelsea a very good game at home and while the scoreline looks like a complete walkover for someone who didn’t watch the game, I think it was a flattering result as Chelsea didn’t really put up a top class performance to really match the scoreline. It was more about the individual qualities that shown through for Chelsea especially after the changes were made. Hudson-Odoi, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic were the goal scorers for Chelsea on the 37th, 76th, 79th and 90th minute respectively.

I will be ending this recap post with the Manchester United vs RB Leipzig fixture. This was one of those fixtures where we all expected a tough match, maybe a lot were leaning on the side of RB Leipzig to get a good result but Manchester United had their plans like they did against PSG when most people wrote them off. Manchester United were playing at home and were already in a good position coming from a massive win away at PSG, so for them, they were already full of confidence. RB Leipzig didn’t know what hit them as they started the game pretty well. They conceded a goal before half way into the first half, but were very much in the game. However, things quicky went south for Leipzig when Manchester United made changes as Marcus Rashford who came on as a substitute made his mark with a hattrick with about 16 minutes left on the clock. Manchester United cemented the 3 points with a 5-0 win. Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial were the goal scorers for Manchester United on the 21st, 74th, 78th, 87th, and 90+2 minute respectively. A very good win for Manchester United as they are now on 2 wins out of 2 so far. Things looking good for them in a group where people thought they may not make it out of the group but they are so far proving the doubters wrong. Even though it is far from group stage success for them, they are in a very good position to progress to the next round.
